Nick Lee’s Mural Featured in Cleveland Magazine

Nick Lee posed in front of his mural titled This Yokai is a Ningyo.

Our fourth resident artist, Nick Lee, has been featured on Cleveland Magazine’s website in an article that highlights his mural hanging in the Gordon Square Arts District on W76th. We want to thank Jala and Cleveland Magazine for their shared interest in the artwork of local artists such as Nick.

Enjoy this short snippet below, but read the article in it’s entirety here!

This Yokai is a Ningyo, for example, Lee paints a playful commentary on his biracial identity by using Japanese culture symbols like a yokai, Japanese for ghost-like creature, and a ningyo, Japanese for human fish. Lee wanted water to be prevalent in his piece to remain consistent with the themes of past art residents.
