Critique is what's missing
from most artists' practice.

The Critters is a critique group put together by feverdream — a place where local artists give and receive constructive feedback in an organized fashion. We always include a special guest artist that emerging artists may not otherwise have the chance to meet. The group meets bimonthly, because critique is essential to the growth of any artist.

HOW A CRITIQUE WORKS

Show your work,
then let it breathe.

BRING

Easel spot

Put a work on the easel — any visual medium, digital welcome — and receive about 20 minutes of critique.

GIVE

Critiquer spot

No work to show? Come anyway to offer insight — every easel deserves a full, generous room.

MEET

The guest

A special guest artist joins each session. Learn from someone new, then stay after 5:30 to chat with peers.

Our Goal

To build a community of artists devoted to helping each other grow through thoughtful critique.

Common Questions

We want all feedback to remain thoughtful, respectful, and constructive. Your remarks should always be about the artwork on display and the following conversation should be pertinent to said artwork. Your remarks should not be prescriptive, but acknowledge something about the artwork that could use a change. No one should ever go home after our event feeling discouraged from making.
Any visual medium that is easy to display is welcome! This includes digital mediums as well!

Please note that as a general rule of thumb, the art should be appropriate for the group to discuss, especially with others in attendance whom you may not know.
You will receive between 15 and 20 minutes of critique for your artwork depending on the number of artworks present at critique.
An easel spot is for artists who want to bring a work and “put it on the easel” to be given critique by the group.

A critiquer spot is for artists who have don’t have work to show, and will only be providing feedback.
Yes! Grab yourself a critiquer spot ticket! You won’t be able to share your work but you can still provide helpful insight to your peers.
It depends! Sometimes we meet at the feverdream homebase, but we've often traveled to the spaces of different community partners. It will say where it is being held clearly on our events calendar and instagram.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds if you cannot make it to critique.
