Stagnant

\"Stagnant\" is part of a series called \"All the Time in the World\" which follows the story of an immortal being and what they feel and experience living a life with no end. This drawing highlights the never ending cycle of life as an immortal, no certain beginning or finish. I wanted to create a dynamic contrast between the disruption of space and emphasize repetition as a key design that suggests that an immortal has to live the same kind of cycle repeatedly and will encounter a moment of inactivity or being stuck without any idea how to move on. This piece essentially captures the essence of feeling stuck at a certain point of growth and using simple shapes and forms in the most repetitious manner, the abstract drawing emphasizes this cycle through different variations of the same pattern to show no progression which causes a frenzy shown by the explosive colors contrasting with the neutrals as well as the small line-work that infect areas of the drawing the same way the lack of progress infects a beings mind and growth.
